Name | : | Study of Determinants of Textile Exports of India: A VECM Approach |
Author | : | Ishfaq Ahmad Thaku |
Abstract | : |
Exports are considered as viable mode of integration for the developing
economies into world economy. It is imperative for developing countries to
concentrate in those sectors in which they possess comparative advantage.
Textile industry is an important industry and is considered vital for the
developing economies due to its labour-intensive and highly export intensive
nature. Textile industry is one of those sectors that have played pivotal role
in the industrial development of various economies particularly that of China.
However, despite possessing almost equal resources and the strength in textile
industry that of China, India's performance in textile trade is dismal.
Therefore, the present study made an endeavour to find the main determinants of
exports and their impact on textile exports of India. The determinants that have
been taken are FDI, productivity, capital intensity, exchange rate and MFA
phase-out. In this study vector error correction model (VECM) and
Granger-Causality test has been applied to achieve the said objective.

Name | : | Analysing Productivity of Scheduled Commercial Banks in India: An Insight into Rural Branches |
Author | : | Dr. Aparna Bhatia,Megha |
Abstract | : |
Scheduled Commercial Banks (SCBs) are often reluctant to operate in rural areas,
as they are not able to generate enhanced productivity due to lack of economics
of scale. But for financial inclusion of the population, it is very much
desirable that SCBs extend their operations in rural areas. As a motivational
strategy, Reserve Bank of India permitted SCBs to open rural branches without
its prior permission from 2009 onwards. But, without minimum productivity cut
off being achieved by these branches, it is infeasible to expand branch network
into rural areas. Hence, the present paper analyses the productivity performance
of rural branches of SCBs in India from 2004-05 till 2011-12. The paper also
determines whether the performance of rural branches of SCBs significantly
differs from pre permission period i.e. subject to getting the permission from
RBI to open bank branches and post permission period i.e. without getting the
permission from RBI to open bank branches.

Name | : | Empirical Validation of Dimensionality of Loyalty in the Indian Context |
Author | : | Harsandaldeep Kaur,Nidhi Sabharwal |
Abstract | : | Customer loyalty is important strategic objective for all managers. Loyal customers build businesses by buying more, paying premium prices and act as advocates of their products/services resulting in increased number of customers for the firm. Consensus is absent in the marketing literature on how loyalty should be conceptualized and measured. The objective of this study is to empirically test and validate four-dimension scale of loyalty that reflects Oliver's (1997) conceptualization of a sequential loyalty chain. Data collected from 120 mobile phone users in India was analyzed using factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis to test the proposed conceptualization of loyalty. The findings suggest existence of loyalty as a fourdimensional construct consisting of cognitive, affective, conative and action loyalty. |

Name | : | Training and Performance: Can Job Fit Act as a Mediator? A Review |
Author | : | Zahid H. Bhat,Dr. Riyaz A. Rainayee |
Abstract | : | There is a clear connection between employee training, person-job fit and performance. The association between training and job performance has been the main concern of scholars and practitioners over the times. This paper presents a review of the relationship between training and performance and also examines the mediating role that person job fit may play in the relationship between these two. Literature suggests that training to a big extent is a determinant of employee performance. The review has also revealed the importance and purpose of training in organizations, and how it contributes to employee performance. The review so far, reveals a seeming consensus in the belief that there is a positive relationship between training and employee performance and also that training develops the skills, knowledge, abilities and competencies of the employees. In addition, person job fit was found to be associated with positive employee outcomes in terms of increased employee performance, job satisfaction, and motivation. Based on the review of past studies, this paper proposes the mediating role of person job fit in determining the indirect relationship that may exist between training and performance. |

Author | : | (CMA) Dr. Meenu Maheshwar,Shobhna Goyal |
Abstract | : |
Aim of the Study: Women emancipation and Inclusive growth have grabbed the
attention of developmental economists the world over and has been on a priority
in order to alleviate poverty and reaching to the most disadvantaged section of
the society through formal financial institutions. For this dual objective microfinance
interventions have been suggested as a measure. As through microfinance the landless
labourers, marginal farmers and women can be roped in the formal financial system
which has been a neglected area by the commercial banks as they are reluctant to
tap this area due to high transaction costs and unassessibility. This paper attempts
to explore one such microfinance intervention in the name of Self Help groups in
Mewat district of Haryana and the role of SHGs in the socio-economic upliftment
of women in this area which is known for the intense backwardness and the lowest
female literacy rate. SHGs have been successful mainly in giving them a voice in
their family, Govt. Offices and in the society against evils and violence and in
making them financially independent up to some extent still there is a lot needed
to achieve women emancipation. The paper will come up with some recommendations
for the effective and efficient implementation of this microfinance intervention.

Name | : | Impact of Multi Fibre Agreement (MFA) Phase out on Indian Textile Exports |
Author | : | Greeshma ManoJ, S. Muraleedharan |
Abstract | : |
The Multi Fibre Agreement (MFA) and the system of bilateral quotas that had governed
the global trade in textiles and apparel for the past forty years came to an end
and were replaced by the Agreement on Textiles and Clothing (ATC) on Jan 1, 2005.
The dismantling of quota restrictions had brought about a significant change in
the structure of worldwide trade in textiles as there are no quota barriers for
the export of textiles and apparels and the hitherto protected textile industry
would be exposed to international competition. The withdrawal of the MFA had brought
back the comparative advantages of developing economies to large labour surplus
economies such as China and India. Since India has a natural comparative advantage
in cotton and cottonbased fibres, abolition of the MFA had an implicit potential
to benefit India's cotton industry as well as cotton based textiles and clothing
sectors. Compared to the competitors India enjoys certain advantage in the production
of textiles and clothing. At the same time, Indian textile industry is also facing
many challenges in the domestic and export front in the changed scenario. In the
given context, the present study attempts to analyse the export performance of Indian
textiles in the post quota era. Export performance has been analysed in terms of
change in the composition and destination of Indian textile exports in the post
MFA period. The period of study is from 1990-2012. In order to examine the impact
of quota removal (MFA), the study period have been sub-divided into Pre-MFA (1990-2004)
and post MFA (2005- 2012) The study is based on secondary data drawn from Ministry
of Textiles, RBI and WTO. The study found that Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR)
of Indian textile exports were low during the post MFA period compared to pre MFA.
If we compare the average export value during the study period, it can be seen that
the mean value of textile exports are higher during the post MFAcompared to pre
MFA period. Among the different sub sectors highest mean value was recorded in readymade
garments followed by cotton textiles and manmade textiles during the post MFA period.
Analysis of percentage share of different subsectors during the study period show
that readymade garments still constitute the largest share in terms of overall textile
exports followed by cotton textiles and manmade textiles. As far as the destination
of exports are concerned, USAcould maintain its position as the largest destination
for Indian textile exports in the segment of textiles, readymade garments, coir
and carpets even during the post MFA period. Emergence of UAE as the single largest
destination for cotton textile exports in the post MFA period is noteworthy. It
can also be seen the emergence of new trading partners like Turkey (jute textiles
and manmade textiles), Egypt (cotton textiles) and UAE (cotton textiles and readymade
garments) in the post MFAperiod.

Name | : | An Application of Porter's Diamond Framework: A Case of Sports Goods Cluster at Jalandhar |
Author | : | Dr. Priya Jhamb |
Abstract | : |
Porter (1990) in his book 'The Competitive Advantages of Nation' developed a diamond
model in order to examine and investigate the reasons for the success of an industry
in a specific region in comparison to the others. Porter found that industries rather
than the nations are the one that compete and clusters have an important influence
in improving the competitive advantage of the industry. The present study aims to
apply Porter's diamond model to identify the sources of competitive advantage of
the cluster. The study is conducted on sports goods cluster of Jalandhar to understand
the measures for improving its competitiveness. The study analyzes each of the four
determinants of the diamond model to understand which determinant gives the competitive
advantage to the cluster. The study proposes various strategies to create and upgrade
the sustainable competitive advantage of sports goods cluster at Jalandhar. In order
to fulfill the above objectives, the study is divided into three parts. First, a
theoretical background of Porter's model and sports goods cluster is identified.
The use of Porter's model allows the author to identify the present status of the
cluster by analyzing the competitive advantage of the cluster with regard to each
determinant and finally various suggestions for improving the competitiveness are
defined. The findings of the study will provide an insight for improving the competitive
structure of the clusters in developing countries like India.

appropriate step the country was looking for. Its fruit are likely to be availed
by different sections of the society but ultimately by all. In the paper, seeming
