Name | : | Scrutinizing the Performance of the Shariah Indices in Malaysia Before and After the Covid-19 Era |
Author | : | Saif Siddiqui,Sumbul |
Abstract | : |
In previous research, Islamic stock market performance has been
extensively and profoundly conferred by researchers. The key objective
of the present study is to focus on Malaysian shariah indices before and
after Covid-19.
For this purpose, we collect day-to-day data of certain indexes i.e. {titan
25Index (DJMY25D) and FBMKLCI. The data have been split into
th before and after Covid-19 duration. Covid period is from 9 June'2017 to
31st Dec.'2019 and after Covid period covered the duration of 1st
Jan.'2020 to 9th June'2022. We apply the Cointegration, Granger
Causality Test, and GMM by analyzing Descriptive statistics and Unit
root tests.
The findings show that, in terms of the risk and returns, the Islamic
finance indices outperforms the conventional index. Since both indices
show cointegration according to the cointegration test over both time
periods, the pandemic has not altered the long-term connection. A
similar pattern has also been seen in the short-term relationship.
The Islamic stock index and the conventional stock index might be seen
to be in contradiction to one another. The Islamic market relies on lower
risk and no interest, while the conventional market relies on higher
interest and more risk. Despite the epidemic having a comparable effect
on both the long-term and short-term relationships of both indexes, the
returns are often higher in the Islamic index.

The quest for knowledge is one of the factors that differentiate humans
from other species. This quest that expresses itself as curiosity about the
surroundings and need for familiarity has expressed itself as a hunger for
news and information. Newspapers were the traditional answers to this
need and held sway for several decades till Television emerged as the
medium of choice for households. This continued till internet and social
media platforms took the world by storm and these today get greater time
than traditional media of mass communication used for disbursing news
and its analysis. This study focused on assessing the perception of people
in terms of credibility of traditional media like newspapers and TV along
with media like internet and social media platforms in vogue in the
recent times. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire
circulated as a google form and purposive sampling employed for
seeking responses. It is seen that while social media platforms are highly
engaging but when it comes to trust, newspapers still command great
respect though newspaper industry is not as profitable as it used to be.
The need for a credible and engaging medium of disbursing news and its
analyses in a profitable manner then emerges as the primary challenge of

Abstract | : |
India's flagship plan, Digital India, aspires to transform the country into a
knowledge-based society and economy. Government had started
numerous initiatives to drive the banking channel penetration in India.
One of its kind is the direct benefit transfer for LPG subsidy, revamping
the income tax and passport application systems etc. Citizens of India
and Banking Channels are the beneficiaries of the Digital India program.
Demonetization, which took place two years ago, saw the government
withdraw currency notes worth 500 and 1,000 rupees on November 8,
2016, causing cash shortage that lasted for more than a year in various
parts of the country. Based on information provided by the National
Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and the Reserve Bank of India
(RBI), between September 2016 and June 2020, there was a significant
increase in digital payments through popular channels including NEFT
and mobile banking. Demonetization may now be a thing of the past.
However, the trend of greater usage of alternative financial channels has
continued. Additionally, SBI report alternative delivery channel share
increased by 502 basis points from 78.45 percent in September 2017 to
83.47 percent in September 2018. Internet banking has grown at a
greater rate in several segments.

Name | : | Management of Tourism, Hotel and Restaurant Business in Ukraine |
Author | : | Vladyslav Piankov,Ilda Kampo,Olha Milashovska,Tetiana Botsian, Valentyna Ivanenko |
Abstract | : |
The purpose of the article is to outline the specific features of
management strategies for the tourism and hotel and restaurant business
in Ukraine in the short term and in the long term. The hospitality sector is
highly dependent on the socio-cultural environment in which services
are provided. Over the past few years, Ukraine has become an arena of
force majeure situations in the economic, legal, and socio-economic
dimensions (COVID-19 pandemic, martial law). It is noted that the
dynamism of public life directly affects the management activity in the
tourism and hotel and restaurant business, updating such guidelines as:
management flexibility, management innovation, management
pragmatism. The instability of the Ukrainian economic space, which
was exacerbated by force majeure, has significantly exacerbated both
the institutional and organisational components of hospitality
management. Under such force majeure conditions, business strategies
are effectively halted, and all economic activity is based on the direct
activities of managers and staff of the hospitality industry entity. The
algorithm, according to which economic activity is carried out according
to predetermined paths, loses its relevance, switching to a manual
control mode that responds to external factors and organises work in
real-time.
