Name | : | “EOQ Model with Constant Deterioration Rate and Time Dependent Demand and IHC” |
Author | : | Prof. Parmar Kirtan ,Dr. U. B. Gothi |
Abstract | : |
In this paper, we have analysed a deterministic inventory model for deteriorating
items with time-dependent quadratic demand and holding cost is time-dependent. An
Exponential distribution is used to represent the distribution of time to deterioration.
In the model considered here, shortages are allowed and partially backlogged. The
backlogging rate is assumed to be dependent on the length of waiting for the next
replenishment. The longer the waiting time is, the smaller the backlogging rate
would be. The model is solved analytically to obtain the optimal solution of the
problem. The derived model is illustrated by a numerical example and its sensitivity
analysis is carried out.

Author | : | Shriram Kadiya |
Abstract | : |
MGNREGA is an Act known as Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act.
The Indian Parliament passed MGNREGA in August 2005, which provides for a minimum
of 100 days of guaranteed employment to every rural household. MGNREGA has placed
a judicially enforceable obligation on the state to provide unskilled, manual work
within 15 days of a person making an application, within a radius of 5 kms from
the applicant's residence. Failing this, the state government is bound to provide
an unemployment allowance. Under the provisions of the Act, workers are entitled
to a statutory minimum wage for their labour, to be paid within seven days after
the work is done. This research aims to study the work demanded and work provided
pattern under MGNREGA in 36 villages of Malpur block of Gujarat. The study helps
understand the on ground scenario and association of work demanded by village households
and work provided to them by the Gram Panchayat (governing body of village). The
analysis of the data indicates that there is a significant positive relationship
between work demanded and work provided to the households of villages under study.
The core results achieved as an outcome of the study could be useful to create awareness

from subsistence level to commercial level. India’s rich agricultural base has potential
to add significant value to the food processing sector. Food Processing Industries
are given high priority in India because of their great linkages in the development
of many interrelated variables. The significance of food industries lies in the
fact that they create employment opportunities, mobilize investible resources from
rural sector, promote agricultural production, make use of local resources, add
value to the farm products, improve quality, achieve efficient marketing, combat
rural-urban migration and promote industrialization in an agricultural economy.
The availability of raw material, changing life style and relaxation in regulatory
policies is fuelling the growth of this sector. Food processing industry is widely
recognized as a “Sunrise Industry” in India having huge potential for uplifting
agricultural economy. In this paper, an attempt has been made to bring out developmental

Author | : | Shakir Hussain Parrey, Dr. Iqbal Ahmad Hakim |
Abstract | : |
Despite a wide range of reform initiatives in agricultural extension in India from
last decades, the coverage, access, and quality of information provided to marginalized
and poor farmers is uneven. This paper aims to ascertain why farmers are not accessing
information in general or about schemes and where information gaps exist, for effective
and efficient marketing (selling and channel selection). Using information provision
and awareness as the basis for analysis, the paper reviews some of the major agricultural
extension programs in Kashmir by considering their ability to provide information
and facilitate information sharing for availing schemes. Further the study evaluates
the awareness of central and state schemes and frequency of participation by growers.
The study uses both primary and secondary data for frequency and percentage analysis.
Hence from results of this analysis, opportunities are identified for increasing
extension services' awareness in reaching smallholder farmers for the utilization
of various schemes. The findings highlighted the role of various unsorted marketing
activities that should be taken in to consideration and explores the use, access
and awareness of various schemes and programmes. Findings also showed that deficit
awareness leads to decrease in utilization. The study came up with suggestions about
the awareness through selection of proper source of media according to the use of
targeted population.

Name | : | Developing HR as a Core Competency: An Approach for Gaining Competitive Advantage |
Author | : | Shravani Sharma, Shravani Sharma, Dr. Jyoti Sharma |
Abstract | : |
Environmental changes are remodelling the approach with which organizations create
value and conduct business. These changes have initialised the urgency of creating
a scenario where the organizations will be in a position to create and sustain difference
in their capabilities and functions over and above their competitors. Consequence
of this ongoing challenge is particularly compelling HR function to step up their
capabilities for adding value so that the only non-imitable resource of the organizations,
namely, capabilities of employees can be identified and utilized as a source of
differentiator. Though till now the process of inculcating a set of competencies
by HR function has been initialized but has not been fully implemented due to lack
of awareness on the part of the organisation about the benefits derived from such
competencies. This necessitates the need for identification of the set of competencies
required for HR function and inducting them into the practices and policies of HR.
The present study, therefore, is an attempt to explore different kinds of competencies
which will craft HR not only as a source of competitive advantage for the organizations
but also as a core competent component of the organization. The study also suggests
that HR should take a leading role in implementing competencies suitable for the
business to attain its ultimate objectives.
