 Abstract :
In today’s scenario when every economy is facing the war for talent, the two most emerging economies of the world i.e. India and China are also facing the brunt of this acute problem. However, in this perspective, employee engagement has been emerged as a strong strategic decision to solve the issue at a larger extent. Through various surveys and research, it has been established that engaged employee is one of the top priority for HR managers globally.
Employee engagement has been defined and measured many times, yet there is a lack of knowledge regarding the background issues which affect the level of engagement. The present study, based on secondary data, aims to explore the ground level issues which affected the employee engagement level in India and China during 2011 and 2012. The study finds that in these two countries, employee engagement has been affected by organizational and economic issues both for short and long term. But simultaneously, culture of the country also plays a very important role in determining the engagement level. It also affects the employees’ perception about the drivers which they consider as the priority issues, essential for keeping and motivating them to be engaged.

Name : Impact of Technology on Employee Engagement – Detrimental or Beneficial?
 Authorhor : Dr.V.Rama Devi, Dr. M.Jyothsna
 Abstract :
The purpose of the article is to highlight the outcomes of employee engagement and the impact of technology on employee engagement. Many research studies have revealed positive outcomes of employee engagement in terms of increase in employees’ job satisfaction, organizational commitment, productivity and decrease in intention to quit the organization.
The article aims to discuss whether technology is detrimental or beneficial to employee engagement. Faster avenues of access of information will be useful to the employees in many ways. In addition to this, sharing of the information about what is happening in the organization with the employees creates an intangible bond that will be of value for employee engagement. Technology also brings in flexibility to the employees, reduces duplication, increases the pace of work and also helps in customer engagement. All these factors positively contribute to employee engagement. Though technology poses a threat to the stability of the employees and blurs the line between their work and personal life, the benefits outweigh the cost justifying the positive impact of technology on employee engagement.

Name : Rural Marketing- The RUDI Model for Intra-rural Marketing
 Author : Dr. Ajith P
 Abstract :
Creating short supply chains between rural producers and consumers will ensure fresh produce at low cost. Reduction or total elimination of middlemen and reduction in transportation cost will substantially increase the income of all members in the short supply chain. RUDI has revolutionized the intra-rural marketing efforts by generating higher incomes for small and marginal farmers and at the same time providing employment opportunities for rural women. The packaged, good quality basic products needed by rural consumers are delivered at their doorsteps by RUDIbens. The RUDI model achieves the dual goal of better prices for farmers for their produce and good quality with lower prices for rural consumers by keeping the supply chain short. RUDI model is compared with another rural distribution initiative namely Project Shakti of HUL. RUDI model is found to be superior to Project Shakti in empowering rural producers and consumers. The innovative and indigenous intra-rural marketing model developed by SEWA can be replicated in other states for empowering rural people especially women.

Name : Price Spread among the Indian Agricultural Commodity Futures
 Author : S. KIRITHIGA, Dr. R. AZHAGAIAH
 Abstract :
The commodity futures market in India is in its developing phase and many researches have been undertaken in this upcoming area of finance. The significance of the study is an attempt to analyse the linkages among the various agricultural commodities and their cross-hedging possibility in India. The spreads available in the market give better investment opportunities for investors as well as hedgers, to make better hedging. The study is based on secondary data collected from National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX). Out of 30 agricultural commodities traded in NCDEX, only 12 agricultural commodities like barley, castor seed, chana, coriander, cotton seed oilcake, jeera, mustard seed, refined soy oil, soybean, sugar, turmeric and wheat whose data are available in the data source for five years on near-month contract basis from April 2009 to March 2014 are considered for analysis. The selected agricultural commodity futures price relationship is tested applying the error correction model (ECM) of Engle and Granger (1987). The stationarity of the time series is investigated with the Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) test (1979). The result thus obtained reveals that there exists short-run and long-run equilibrium among the agricultural commodities futures in India based on micro-economic factors like supplementary, complementary, competitive harvest and competitive sowing periods. Thus, the study proves that there exists cross-hedging opportunities and spread opportunities among the Indian agricultural commodity futures during the study period.

Author : Dr. Pavleen Soni, Manisha Behal
 Abstract :
Young people in India spend enormous time watching television. They occupy themselves in watching TV during day and night in order to escape from the pressures of daily life. Such exposure to TV raises concerns about its undesirable outcomes and entails the need for mediation of TV viewing habits. In order to explore the mediation strategies of TV content (programs and ads) followed by parents, the present study used a structure questionnaire distributed to 714 young viewers of age category 15-24 years to examine their perceptions about the type of mediation followed in Indian families. The sample has been drawn from schools and colleges in three cities of Punjab (India). The study also tries to investigate the differences between constructs of perceived mediation strategies for TV content across age. Data have been analyzed through descriptive statistics (means and standard deviations), Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), and Analysis of variance (ANOVA). The findings of the study revealed three mediation styles used for TV programs manifest as ‘active mediation’, ‘co-viewing’ and ‘restrictive mediation’ and two styles for TV ads viz. ‘restrictive mediation’ and ‘active mediation’. More so, younger viewers perceived greater use of mediation for TV programs than their older counterparts. The implications of this paper are finally presented.

Name : An Empirical Investigation of Volatility of the Stock Market in India
Author : Harsh Purohit, Hartika Chhatwal, Himanshu Puri
 Abstract :
Economies around the world have been easily affected by the volatility in stock markets. Volatility in cash market is being impacted and influenced by lot many factors out of which futures are considered to be the important one. The present paper is focused towards empirically testing the volatility of the Indian stock market owing to the selected variables like Nifty Index, Nifty Junior, One month Future on Nifty Index and Nifty Turnover. The volatility in Indian stock market is represented by VIX Index of National Stock Exchange. The other prime objective would be to analyze the impact of derivative trading on volatility of spot market for which the variable of one month Future on Nifty Index has been taken. The study also investigates the dynamic relationship between all the return series. The objectives of the study are examined by employing ADF test to check the stationarity, Johansen’s co-integration test for examining the long term relationship, and Garch (1, 1) model to check the volatility due to Nifty Index, Nifty Junior, One month Future on Nifty Index and Nifty Turnover on VIX Index. The daily closing data is taken from last four years (November 2009 - March 2014) for the analysis. The findings of the study proved that the series derived from the VIX Index, Nifty Index, Nifty Junior, One month Future on Nifty Index and Nifty Turnover were not stationary in the level form, except VIX series, but there is evidence of stationarity in the first difference form for others. Long run relationship between the series is also observed. Empirical results found that one month futures do not bring volatility in the VIX. It is Nifty index that brings volatility in VIX.

 Author : Sivakoumar, R. Kasilingam
 Abstract :
International capital flow is considered to be one of the prominent determinants of International business operation. Knowledge economy is characterized by a new genre of industries, which use knowledge as a prominent resource. The intellectual assets may influence international business operations in knowledge-based industries. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and Foreign Portfolio Investment (FPI) are the prominent avenues of international investments. While decision regarding Foreign Direct Investment is influenced by macro-economic factors like ownership, location and internationalization, Foreign Portfolio Investments decision is influenced by industry specific and firm specific factors, primarily the expected returns on investment and risk diversification. But the investments in knowledge-based industries may be driven by the quality and worth of intellectual capital. There are many studies to prove this postulate from the perspective of foreign direct investment. But, studies are not abundant from the perspective of Foreign Portfolio Investments. Therefore the present study is undertaken to analyze the relationship between ‘intellectual capital’ and ‘international finance capital’ from the foreign p0ortfolio Investments perspective. As the pharmaceutical industry of India is a successful model for thriving on its intellectual capital, the study proposes to test the above postulate in this industry.

Name : Mobile Telecommunications in Cambodia: Aspects of Competition and Consumer Behaviour
Author : Fuangfa Amponstira, John Walsh
 Abstract :
Once Cambodia opened its economy for international investment and business, many companies entered promising sectors as competition flourished and, in some cases, became destructively intense. This has occurred in the mobile telecommunications industry, which the Cambodian government opened freely to international investors because it realized the importance to economic development of national broadband infrastructure but lacked the resources to build it. This paper explores the interaction between the services provided under these conditions of competition and those which are demanded by consumers through a quantitative survey of 400 respondents in four different urban environments. It is shown that there is a discrepancy between the cost-based offerings generally available and the network externality benefits in which consumers are most interested.
